U.S. Representative Pramila Jayapal, who represents Washington’s 7th district in Congress, posted a series of statements on October 6, 2025, addressing issues related to health care cuts, immigration enforcement, and federal authority.
In her first post at 14:07 UTC, Jayapal wrote: “Republicans are pointing their fingers at immigrants, trying to distract us from the fact that their Big Bad Betrayal slashed health care for 15 million Americans. We won’t fall for it.”
Later that day at 15:44 UTC, she commented on federal intervention in Portland: “Trump has no authority to send the National Guard into Portland. But don’t just take it from me, take it from Judge Immergut — who HE appointed.”
At 19:23 UTC, Jayapal described an incident involving U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE): “Chelsea White’s husband was kidnapped by ICE right in front of her at a traffic stop and was disappeared and deported to Mexico. Trump is separating families like hers.”
Pramila Jayapal has represented Washington’s 7th District in Congress since 2017 after serving in the Washington State Senate from 2014 to 2016. She succeeded Jim McDermott in the House of Representatives. Born in Chennai in 1965 and currently residing in Seattle, Jayapal holds degrees from Georgetown University and Northwestern University.
