U.S. Representative Pramila Jayapal, who serves Washington’s 7th district, addressed several issues in a series of tweets posted on October 10 and 11, 2025. Her posts touched on the impending expiration of health care subsidies, criticism of former President Donald Trump’s priorities, and support for the Seattle Mariners.
On October 10, Jayapal wrote: “Health care subsidies are about to expire, meaning that tens of thousands of Washingtonians will see their premiums skyrocket. Republicans refuse to even come to the table to protect health care. They are making the American people poorer and sicker.” She highlighted concerns about rising health insurance costs for her constituents and accused Republican lawmakers of inaction regarding healthcare protections.
Later that evening, she commented on economic pressures facing Americans while criticizing former President Trump: “While Americans struggle to pay for groceries, Trump is focused on real estate deals in the Middle East and his gold-plated Oval Office.”
In a third tweet posted early on October 11, Jayapal celebrated a local sports achievement: “Seattle @Mariners !! American League Championship, here we come!!!!!!”
Pramila Jayapal has represented Washington’s 7th District in Congress since 2017 after succeeding Jim McDermott. Before her tenure in Congress, she served in the Washington State Senate from 2014 to 2016. Born in Chennai in 1965 and now residing in Seattle, Jayapal holds degrees from Georgetown University and Northwestern University.
