U.S. Representative Pramila Jayapal, who represents Washington’s 7th district in Congress, addressed several issues on her social media account on December 19, 2025.
In a post made at 00:20 UTC, Jayapal criticized Republican lawmakers for their stance on transgender children and family decision-making. She stated, “Republicans are putting the lives of trans children at risk and getting in the way of families making personal decisions for their own children. We should be HELPING these kids survive and thrive — but Republicans would prefer to use them as a political prop.”
Later that day at 00:47 UTC, Jayapal commented on proposals regarding congressional stock trading rules. She wrote, “Simply banning trading of stocks while allowing members to hold stock they own means they will still make legislative decisions based on their own profits instead of their constituents’ wellbeing. Totally insufficient and the public will absolutely agree.”
At 02:20 UTC, she referenced an impending deadline related to the Department of Justice under former President Trump. Jayapal posted, “Tomorrow is the deadline for Trump’s DOJ to release the full Epstein Files. No redactions or deleted pages to protect the President and his billionaire buddies. Full truth, transparency, and justice for the survivors of this horrific abuse and for the American people.”
Pramila Jayapal has served in Congress since 2017 after replacing Jim McDermott as representative for Washington’s 7th district. Prior to her tenure in Congress, she was a member of the Washington State Senate from 2014 to 2016. Born in Chennai in 1965 and currently residing in Seattle, Jayapal holds degrees from Georgetown University (1986) and Northwestern University (1990).
