Rep. Pramila Jayapal, a U.S. Congresswoman representing Washington’s 7th district since 2017, used her social media platform on May 19, 2026, to comment on staff turnover in congressional offices and critique the Trump administration’s policies regarding Americans’ financial well-being and family separation at the border.

On May 19, Jayapal highlighted staff turnover among congressional offices by stating, “In fact, in 2025, 13 of the top 15 offices with the highest staff turnover were GOP. Wonder why he’s not running that story instead?”

Later that day, she addressed economic issues under former President Donald Trump’s administration: “Trump said it himself: He doesn’t think about Americans’ financial situation. Whether it’s grocery prices or ticket sales, this administration is letting monopolies run unchecked — meaning prices go up for you.”

In a subsequent post on May 19, Jayapal discussed immigration policy during the Trump era: “More than 100,000 children have been separated from their parents during the Trump administration’s kidnapping and disappearing campaign. We need to reform our broken system and stop Trump from tearing families apart.”

Jayapal has served as a member of Congress since succeeding Jim McDermott in 2017 and previously held office in the Washington State Senate from 2014 to 2016. Born in Chennai in 1965 and now residing in Seattle, she holds degrees from Georgetown University (1986) and Northwestern University (1990).
