U.S. Representative Pramila Jayapal, who serves Washington’s 7th district in Congress, addressed immigration enforcement and policy concerns in a series of posts on October 3, 2025.

In her first post that day, Jayapal stated: “ICE is out of control, and we must hold them accountable for their abuses of power.” (October 3, 2025). Shortly after, she commented on a recent Trump administration proposal regarding H-1B visas: “President Trump’s $100,000 H-1B entry fee is unlawful. We need real immigration reform to protect U.S. workers and stop abuse by bad employers — not unlawful attacks that further break the system. I’m glad to see this will be challenged in court.” (October 3, 2025).

Later the same evening, Jayapal promoted her podcast episode discussing current political developments: “NEW POD: This week on The Power You Have, I broke down Trump and Republicans’ government shutdown, how we got here, and how we get out of it. Plus, I answered some of your listener questions! Watch below or listen anywhere you get your podcasts!” (October 3, 2025).

Jayapal has served in Congress since 2017 after previously holding office in the Washington State Senate from 2014 to 2016. She was born in Chennai in 1965 and currently resides in Seattle. Her academic background includes degrees from Georgetown University and Northwestern University.
