U.S. Representative Pramila Jayapal, who represents Washington’s 7th district in Congress, posted a series of tweets on November 17, 2025, raising concerns about the actions of the current presidential administration and its policies.
In her first post at 15:32 UTC, Jayapal stated: “Democrats cannot continue business as usual, as this authoritarian president and his administration kidnap and disappear people, cut off food benefits, and rip health care away from millions. We need a new playbook to fight back and win.”
Later that day at 17:15 UTC, she questioned former President Donald Trump’s stance on the release of documents related to Jeffrey Epstein. Jayapal wrote: “If Trump is now suddenly in favor of releasing the Epstein Files, he could order his administration to release every single one of them right now. Why isn’t he doing so?”
At 18:35 UTC on the same day, Jayapal commented on law enforcement activities in North Carolina: “Border Patrol has been in Charlotte for less than a week and has already tried to arrest this U.S. citizen TWICE.”
Pramila Jayapal has served as a member of Congress since 2017 after succeeding Jim McDermott. She previously represented her community in the Washington State Senate from 2014 to 2016. Born in Chennai (formerly Madras State) in 1965, Jayapal resides in Seattle. She holds degrees from Georgetown University (BA, 1986) and Northwestern University (1990).
