U.S. Representative Pramila Jayapal, who represents Washington’s 7th district in Congress, voiced strong opposition to a Republican-backed continuing resolution (CR) on health care through a series of posts on her official X account.
On November 12, 2025, Jayapal criticized her Republican colleagues’ attendance and legislative efforts, writing: “Republicans refused to even show up to work for 51 days and are now trying to pass a bill that will kick millions of Americans off of health care. It’s shameful, and I’m a HELL NO.”
The following day, she expressed agreement with another statement by posting: “The man speaks truth here!” on November 13, 2025.
Later the same day, Jayapal reiterated her disapproval of the proposed legislation: “This Republican CR does absolutely nothing to address rising health care costs — a complete betrayal of the millions of Americans whose premiums are set to double or triple next year. I voted HELL NO.”
Jayapal has served as the U.S. Representative for Washington’s 7th District since replacing Jim McDermott in 2017. Prior to her tenure in Congress, she was a member of the Washington State Senate from 2014 to 2016. Born in Chennai in 1965 and currently residing in Seattle, Jayapal holds degrees from Georgetown University and Northwestern University.
