Rep. Pramila Jayapal, who represents Washington’s 7th district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of statements on social media criticizing recent government actions and calling for bipartisan cooperation.
On November 7, 2025, Jayapal addressed immigration enforcement under former President Trump’s administration: “The violence and cruelty that Trump’s ICE is inflicting on our communities is unacceptable. The American people are seeing it with their own eyes, and they are horrified. It must end.”
A day later, she commented on changes to air travel regulations: “Starting today, the FAA is reducing flight traffic by 10 percent at 40 airports across the country — including at SeaTac. This is unprecedented and will have huge impacts for travelers. Republicans must come to the table to end this NOW.” This reduction in flight traffic is expected to affect major airports nationwide.
In another post from November 8, Jayapal referred to ongoing negotiations over health care and government operations: “Trump said it himself: The American people know who’s responsible for this crisis — Republicans. It’s time for them to come to the table and negotiate a deal that protects health care and opens the government.”
Jayapal has represented Washington’s 7th District since 2017 after succeeding Jim McDermott. Before her tenure in Congress, she served in the Washington State Senate from 2014 to 2016. She was born in Chennai, India in 1965 and currently resides in Seattle. Jayapal holds degrees from Georgetown University (BA, 1986) and Northwestern University (1990).
