U.S. Representative Pramila Jayapal, who has represented Washington’s 7th district in Congress since 2017, posted a series of statements on October 10, 2025, criticizing recent actions by the Trump administration and sharing concerns about threats made against her.
In a post published at 16:35 UTC, Jayapal wrote, “Trump said he was going after the ‘worst of the worst.’ He lied. ICE is rounding up children, people on valid visas, and even U.S. citizens.”
Later that day at 19:25 UTC, she addressed threats to her safety: “An elected official called for my execution. This threat is a clear attempt to shut down nonviolent resistance against this administration. I will not be silenced, and our nonviolent people-powered movement will continue to grow.”
At 19:46 UTC on the same day, Jayapal criticized both former President Donald Trump and Russ Vought regarding federal workforce reductions: “Trump and Russ Vought don’t have to lay off federal workers. They’re choosing to because they want to ‘inflict maximum pain’ on the American people. It’s time for Republicans to come to the table and end this chaos.”
Pramila Jayapal has served as the U.S. Representative for Washington’s 7th District since replacing Jim McDermott in 2017. She previously held office in the Washington State Senate from 2014 to 2016. Born in Chennai in 1965 and currently residing in Seattle, Jayapal holds degrees from Georgetown University and Northwestern University.
