U.S. Representative Pramila Jayapal, who represents Washington’s 7th district in Congress, posted a series of statements on her social media account on September 20 and 21, 2025, addressing national politics and local sports.

On September 20, Jayapal wrote, “The most corrupt administration we have ever seen.” Later that evening, she referenced a local football rivalry by posting, “Apple Cup this evening — as always, go @UW_Football!!”

The following day, Jayapal criticized former President Donald Trump’s policies with the statement: “Thanks to Trump’s Big Bad Betrayal Bill, 422,000 Washingtonians will lose their health insurance by 2034. Trump is making Americans poorer and sicker — all to pay for a tax break for billionaires.”

Pramila Jayapal has served in the U.S. Congress since 2017 after succeeding Jim McDermott. She previously held office in the Washington State Senate from 2014 to 2016. Born in Chennai in 1965 and currently residing in Seattle at age 57, Jayapal is an alumna of Georgetown University and Northwestern University.
