U.S. Representative Pramila Jayapal, who represents Washington’s 7th district in Congress, issued a series of statements on March 20, 2026, criticizing the Trump administration’s military and economic policies.

In a post published at 15:36 UTC, Jayapal stated, “Another escalation of Trump’s illegal war: The administration is now sending thousands of additional Marines to the Middle East. Nobody wants another forever war. Congress must demand a stop to this before more lives are lost and trillions of taxpayer dollars are wasted.”

Later that day at 16:29 UTC, she commented on economic issues related to the administration’s actions: “Prices are already too high thanks to Trump’s tariffs and Republicans’ refusal to address corporate greed. Now, thanks to Trump’s illegal war, prices will just keep going up. Congress cannot let this continue.”

At 17:17 UTC, Jayapal addressed privacy concerns regarding surveillance reforms: “There is a serious bipartisan push for major, necessary reforms here to protect Americans’ privacy, not a clean reauthorization that allows for continued surveillance. Let’s keep up the pressure!”

Jayapal has served as U.S. Representative since 2017 after succeeding Jim McDermott and previously held office in the Washington State Senate from 2014 to 2016. She was born in Chennai in 1965 and currently resides in Seattle. Her academic background includes degrees from Georgetown University and Northwestern University.
