U.S. Representative Pramila Jayapal, who serves Washington’s 7th district, published a series of tweets on July 29, 2025, criticizing the Trump administration’s environmental and immigration policies.

In a tweet posted at 18:35 UTC, Jayapal wrote: “The federal government should protect you from the impacts of climate change, like dangerous storms and polluted air — but Trump’s EPA is trying to undo that. Why? So his Big Oil billionaire donors can get even richer.”

Later the same day at 20:15 UTC, she commented on immigration enforcement actions: “Another example of ICE kidnapping a LEGAL RESIDENT and denying them access to a lawyer with no explanation. Trump’s secret police have zero oversight or accountability.”

At 22:15 UTC, Jayapal addressed recent statements by EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin: “EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin did this TV hit bragging about making pollution worse while 168 million Americans were under a heat advisory today.”

Pramila Jayapal has represented Washington’s 7th District in Congress since 2017 after serving in the Washington State Senate from 2014 to 2016. She was born in Chennai in 1965 and currently resides in Seattle. Jayapal holds degrees from Georgetown University and Northwestern University.
