Rep. Pramila Jayapal, who has represented Washington’s 7th district in the U.S. Congress since 2017, recently posted a series of statements on her official social media account addressing key political developments.

On August 29, 2025, Jayapal criticized former President Donald Trump’s actions regarding federal oversight: “Trump’s attempted firing of Robert Primus from the Surface Transportation Board is just this administration’s latest giveaway to Wall Street and the Big Railroads. Later that day, she drew attention to immigration policy and historical context: “ICE’s newest mega-detention center is at a WWII army base — the same site where thousands of Japanese-Americans were wrongfully detained. Cruelty for the sake of cruelty. https://t.co/02qUlRnPid” (August 29, 2025).

In a subsequent post on August 29, Jayapal addressed healthcare policy and technology use by political opponents: “This is called cutting Medicare coverage. Trump and Republicans are using AI to try and cut your Medicare. https://t.co/ZFCMpVgFhw”.

Jayapal was born in Chennai in 1965 and currently resides in Seattle. She holds degrees from Georgetown University (1986) and Northwestern University (1990). Before joining Congress, she served in the Washington State Senate from 2014 to 2016.
