U.S. Representative Pramila Jayapal, who represents Washington’s 7th district in Congress, posted a series of statements on September 17, 2025, addressing concerns about historical censorship and the credibility of Epstein victims in recent government proceedings.
In her first post at 15:31 UTC, Jayapal wrote, “ICYMI: Trump is literally trying to erase slavery from U.S. history. This is censorship to the extreme by an authoritarian leader. America cannot ignore our past as we strive for a brighter and more just future.”
Later that day at 16:53 UTC, she addressed FBI Director Kash Patel’s responses during a hearing regarding Jeffrey Epstein’s victims. Jayapal stated, “I repeatedly asked FBI Director Patel a simple question: does he believe the Epstein victims are credible — yes or no? Over and over again, he refused to answer. Unsurprising, but disgusting, coming from a Trump admin that has called this entire thing a ‘Democratic hoax.'”
She reiterated her point at 17:10 UTC with another post: “Are the Epstein victims credible? It’s a simple question, but one FBI Director Kash Patel refused to answer.”
Pramila Jayapal has served in Congress since 2017 after replacing Jim McDermott and previously held office in the Washington State Senate from 2014 to 2016. Born in Chennai in 1965 and currently residing in Seattle, Jayapal holds degrees from Georgetown University and Northwestern University.
Her comments come amid ongoing debates about how American history is taught and continued scrutiny over investigations into Jeffrey Epstein’s crimes.
