U.S. Representative Pramila Jayapal, who has represented Washington’s 7th district in Congress since 2017, criticized former President Donald Trump and his policies in a series of posts on April 16, 2026.
In her first post, Jayapal stated: “Donald Trump and Russ Vought have tanked the futures of millions of Americans. Their policies are a total failure.” (April 16, 2026)
Later that day, she addressed ongoing U.S. military involvement abroad: “While U.S. service members are killed and we waste billions on an illegal war, the madman in the White House is raging at the Pope and pretending he is Jesus. Congress must rein him in and stop this unconstitutional war NOW.” (April 16, 2026)
In a subsequent post referencing congressional action related to the conflict in Iran, Jayapal wrote: “JUST NOW: All but ONE Republican voted NO on reining in Trump and demanding a stop to the war in Iran. They’re fine with raising your gas prices and letting more people die. When will Republicans finally stand up?” (April 16, 2026)
Pramila Jayapal has served as the representative for Washington’s 7th District since succeeding Jim McDermott in 2017. She previously served in the Washington State Senate from 2014 to 2016. Born in Chennai (formerly Madras State) in India in 1965, Jayapal currently resides in Seattle. She holds degrees from Georgetown University (BA, 1986) and Northwestern University (1990).
