U.S. Representative Pramila Jayapal, who serves Washington’s 7th district, has used her social media platform to criticize former President Donald Trump’s policies regarding food assistance and health care in early November 2025.
On November 5, Jayapal wrote, “Food banks and meal programs across our community are dealing with major increases in demand as they try to fill the gaps left by Trump’s withholding of SNAP. There is no point to this besides cruelty. Trump must fully fund food assistance now.” The following day, she continued her criticism by posting, “Donald Trump’s policies are failing the American people. Reckless tariffs that increase costs. Cutting SNAP benefits. Raising health care prices. We can and must do better for the millions of people who need a hand to get by.”
Later on November 6, Jayapal shared a link to a live event and stated, “Watch LIVE: https://t.co/o8qCaWOKuj House Democrats are standing together to demand a deal that ends this shutdown and protects health care for the American people.”
Pramila Jayapal has represented Washington’s 7th District in Congress since 2017 after previously serving in the Washington State Senate from 2014 to 2016. She was born in Chennai in 1965 and currently resides in Seattle. Jayapal graduated from Georgetown University with a BA in 1986 and earned another degree from Northwestern University in 1990.
