U.S. Representative Pramila Jayapal, who serves Washington’s 7th district in Congress, posted a series of tweets on January 7, 2026, criticizing the Trump administration’s vaccine policy changes and reporting on a fatal shooting involving ICE agents in Minneapolis.

In her first tweet at 15:39 UTC, Jayapal wrote, “These vaccines are scientifically backed, safe, and effective. These changes by the Trump administration will cause countless preventable American deaths.”

Later that day at 18:17 UTC, she addressed an incident involving Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), stating, “BREAKING: ICE shot and killed a woman in Minneapolis, and the initial reports are horrifying. This is not the first time Trump’s ICE has shot at civilians. We need ICE out of our cities and communities.”

In a subsequent post at 19:39 UTC, Jayapal warned about graphic content related to the same incident: “WARNING: GRAPHIC CONTENT This video is absolutely horrific. ICE shot and killed a woman in her car as she was attempting to drive away. The violence and aggression must stop. Get ICE out of our cities.”

Pramila Jayapal has represented Washington’s 7th district in Congress since 2017 after serving in the Washington State Senate from 2014 to 2016. She succeeded Jim McDermott as U.S. Congress member for the district. Born in Chennai in 1965 and currently residing in Seattle, Jayapal holds degrees from Georgetown University and Northwestern University.
