U.S. Representative Pramila Jayapal, who represents Washington’s 7th district in Congress, posted a series of statements on November 8, 2025, addressing recent federal policy actions and court rulings involving former President Donald Trump and congressional Republicans.
In her first post at 2:05 a.m. UTC, Jayapal criticized Trump’s efforts regarding the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), writing: “This is insane. Trump is jumping through hoops to block SNAP. Follow the law, fund SNAP, and feed American families.”
Later that morning at 2:19 a.m. UTC, she responded to a legal decision affecting the deployment of the National Guard in Oregon: “This is a huge ruling: permanent injunction blocking Trump from deployigg by national guard to Oregon. No ‘rebellion’ happening!”
At 3:30 a.m. UTC, Jayapal addressed healthcare funding and insurance coverage for Americans under current policies proposed by Trump and Republican lawmakers: “In July, Trump and Republicans cut $1 trillion from Medicaid, kicking 15 million people off health care.
Now, they’re refusing to extend ACA tax credits, meaning premiums could double or triple for 22 million Americans next year.
Democrats are fighting back to protect health”
Pramila Jayapal has served as U.S. Representative for Washington’s 7th District since replacing Jim McDermott in 2017. Before her tenure in Congress, she was a member of the Washington State Senate from 2014 to 2016. Born in Chennai in 1965 and currently residing in Seattle, Jayapal holds degrees from Georgetown University and Northwestern University.
