U.S. Representative Pramila Jayapal, who serves Washington’s 7th district in Congress, issued a series of statements on November 7, 2025, addressing military actions abroad and ongoing domestic health care issues.
On her official social media account, Jayapal criticized former President Donald Trump’s recent military operations in the Western Hemisphere. On November 7, she wrote: “Donald Trump’s airstrikes across Latin America and the Caribbean have killed at least 66 people with zero due process and represent an appalling violation of international law. Congress holds the constitutional authority to authorize the use of military force. My full statement: https://t.co/WCOgfET5Wp”.
Later that day, Jayapal turned her attention to domestic health care concerns, posting: “Premiums are rising now. Rural hospitals are closing now. The health care crisis is now. We cannot agree to a half-promise of a vote down the road. We need to address this now.”
Addressing the ongoing government shutdown led by Republicans, she added on November 7: “It’s day 38 of the Republican Shutdown — the longest in American history. Trump and Republicans are still refusing to negotiate a plan to save health care for millions of American families. Democrats won’t stop fighting to lower your costs and protect your care.”
Jayapal has served as U.S. Representative for Washington’s 7th District since 2017 after replacing Jim McDermott, following earlier service in the Washington State Senate from 2014 to 2016. Born in Chennai in 1965 and currently residing in Seattle, Jayapal holds degrees from Georgetown University (BA) and Northwestern University.
