U.S. Representative Pramila Jayapal, who represents Washington’s 7th district in Congress, posted a series of tweets on April 1, 2026, addressing topics including U.S. foreign policy, voting rights, and national security initiatives.

In her first tweet at 15:43 UTC, Jayapal wrote: “You’re so close. Now say it again, but replace “Iran” with the “United States.” https://t.co/PgRo34dUYs”.

Later that day at 16:40 UTC, she commented on former President Donald Trump’s stance on mail-in voting: “Trump wants to decide who can vote by mail, despite the fact that HE voted by mail in a recent election.

He knows his wars and reckless policies that are skyrocketing prices are unpopular, so he’s trying to rig the next election. It’s illegal and must be challenged in court.”

At 18:43 UTC on the same day, Jayapal criticized efforts to revive a previous federal program targeting Chinese espionage: “Republicans want to reestablish the China Initiative — a failed program that actually did very little to protect our national security and instead stoked anti-Asian hate.

Restarting this failed initiative would just exacerbate that racism and xenophobia. https://t.co/U3LXVHjsY4

Jayapal has represented Washington’s 7th District in Congress since 2017 after succeeding Jim McDermott. She previously served in the Washington State Senate from 2014 to 2016. Born in Chennai in 1965 and currently residing in Seattle, Jayapal holds degrees from Georgetown University and Northwestern University.
