U.S. Representative Pramila Jayapal, who represents Washington’s 7th district in Congress, used her social media platform on May 15 and 16, 2026, to criticize former President Donald Trump and U.S. immigration enforcement policies.

On May 15, Jayapal posted: “Marco Rubio is going to say whatever pleases Donald Trump. But the American people heard it for themselves: Trump does not care about your financial situation.”

The following day, she addressed a recent incident involving U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), writing: “A devastating story has come out about a US citizen child, Orlin, who was murdered after ICE deported his mom. This tragedy is an abject failure by ICE, and it’s why I will not give them another cent. We must stop the cruelty and lawlessness of this administration.” Later that same day, she added: “You can read more about this tragic story here: https://t.co/84HcAs5qdO”

Pramila Jayapal has served in Congress since 2017 after replacing Jim McDermott as the representative for Washington’s 7th district. She previously served in the Washington State Senate from 2014 to 2016. Born in Chennai in 1965 and currently residing in Seattle, Jayapal holds degrees from Georgetown University and Northwestern University.
