U.S. Representative Pramila Jayapal, who serves Washington’s 7th district in Congress, has recently used her social media platform to comment on issues ranging from energy policy and antitrust law to the ongoing fallout from the Jeffrey Epstein case.
On September 5, 2025, Jayapal criticized former President Donald Trump’s approach to energy policy, stating: “Donald Trump is making your electric bills more expensive by slashing clean energy projects (and jobs) and letting his Big Oil billionaire buddies do whatever they want.”
The following day, after meeting with survivors of Jeffrey Epstein’s abuse, Jayapal posted: “After meeting with the incredibly courageous survivors of Jeffrey Epstein’s abuse, what we need is clear: A full and complete understanding of EVERYONE who was involved. Democrat, Republican, rich, poor, politician, CEO — it doesn’t matter. These women deserve justice.” The post underscores her call for accountability regardless of political or socioeconomic status.
Later on September 6, Jayapal addressed a recent court decision involving Google: “ICYMI: Google will be allowed to remain a monopoly — a huge loss for competition, small businesses, and consumers. This court decision was a slap on the wrist. I’ll keep fighting in Congress for stronger reforms to protect Americans and their interests.”
Pramila Jayapal has represented Washington’s 7th District in Congress since 2017 after previously serving in the Washington State Senate from 2014 to 2016. She succeeded Jim McDermott as representative for the district and currently resides in Seattle. Born in Chennai in 1965 and now aged 57, Jayapal holds degrees from Georgetown University and Northwestern University.
