U.S. Representative Pramila Jayapal, who represents Washington’s 7th district in Congress, posted a series of tweets on September 12, 2025, addressing issues related to airline consumer protections, protest movements, and economic conditions under former President Donald Trump.
In her first tweet at 16:56 UTC, Jayapal wrote: “ICYMI: Trump canceled a rule that would have forced airlines to refund you for disrupted flights. He isn’t in office to serve you. He’s there to make his billionaire buddies even richer.”
Later the same day at 19:19 UTC, she commented on civic activism and labor rights: “Every single protest, walkout, and act of non-cooperation is a tool to build our movement in the fight against fascism — from the government and corporate giants. Together, we can fight for a better country — one where working people can earn a decent wage and billionaires don’t”
At 21:21 UTC on September 12, Jayapal addressed economic promises made by former President Trump: “ICYMI: Trump promised to lower costs on day one. But what we’re really seeing is rising inflation and unemployment rates.”
Pramila Jayapal has served as the U.S. Representative for Washington’s 7th District since 2017 after replacing Jim McDermott. Before her tenure in Congress, she was a member of the Washington State Senate from 2014 to 2016. Born in Chennai (formerly Madras State) in 1965, Jayapal resides in Seattle and holds degrees from Georgetown University (BA) and Northwestern University.
