Rep. Pramila Jayapal, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Washington’s 7th district since 2017, recently addressed several issues through her social media posts.
On December 19, 2025, Jayapal criticized former President Donald Trump’s stance on immigration, writing, “Visa applicants go through some of the most rigorous vetting our country has. Trump is exploiting this horrific tragedy to advance his anti-immigrant, xenophobic agenda and shut down more legal pathways.”
Later that same day, she commented on the release of grand jury testimony related to the Epstein Files by the Trump administration. In her post from December 19, 2025, Jayapal stated: “This is part of the Trump administration’s Epstein Files release — 119 pages of Grand Jury testimony, fully redacted. This is not transparency. This is a cover-up. Follow the law and release ALL of the damn files.”
On December 20, 2025, Jayapal provided an update concerning recent natural disasters in Washington State: “I’ve been in close touch with federal, state, and local partners after the catastrophic flooding that Washington State has seen over the past week. We’ll keep working to get help and resources in and folks informed as much as possible.”
Jayapal succeeded Jim McDermott as representative for Washington’s 7th district in 2017 after serving in the Washington State Senate from 2014 to 2016. Born in Chennai in what was then Madras State in India in 1965, she currently resides in Seattle and holds degrees from Georgetown University and Northwestern University.
