Representative Pramila Jayapal, who serves Washington’s 7th district in the U.S. Congress, recently posted a series of comments on her official social media account regarding Donald Trump, House Speaker Mike Johnson, and concerns about federal nutrition benefits.
On November 5, 2025, Jayapal wrote: “It’s far too convenient that every time Donald Trump does or says something ridiculous or even illegal, Mike Johnson has somehow not seen it or heard about it. The American people aren’t buying it.”
In a subsequent post on the same day, she stated: “Trump and his extremist policies were on the ballot — AND the Republican shutdown is bad for Republicans.”
Later that day, Jayapal highlighted growing public anxiety over access to Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits: “People across the country are wondering if or when they’ll get their SNAP benefits. No one in the richest country in the world should have to worry about feeding their families, especially hardworking people who have been priced out of living by greedy corporations.”
Pramila Jayapal has represented Washington’s 7th District in Congress since 2017 after succeeding Jim McDermott. Before joining Congress, she served in the Washington State Senate from 2014 to 2016. Born in Chennai in 1965 and currently residing in Seattle, Jayapal graduated from Georgetown University and Northwestern University.
