U.S. Representative Pramila Jayapal, who represents Washington’s 7th district in Congress, posted a series of statements on July 23, 2025, addressing former President Donald Trump’s actions regarding foreign policy, housing, and the situation in Gaza.

In her first post at 14:15 UTC, Jayapal wrote: “Trump was wined, dined, & bribed in the UAE — and then promptly sold billions of dollars of weapons to the country without Congressional input. He did this, not because it was in the best interests of the American people, but because it was in the best interests of Donald Trump.”

Later that day at 15:31 UTC, she stated: “Trump wants to evict 1.4 MILLION Americans from their homes. Housing is a human right — and our government needs to start acting like it.”

At 18:05 UTC on July 23, Jayapal addressed humanitarian concerns in Gaza: “Children are literally starving to death in Gaza. The Israeli government is using starvation as a weapon of war and using our taxpayer dollars to do it. This plain cruelty must stop.”

Pramila Jayapal has represented Washington’s 7th District since 2017 after succeeding Jim McDermott. She previously served in the Washington State Senate from 2014 to 2016 and holds degrees from Georgetown University and Northwestern University. Born in Chennai (formerly Madras State) in India in 1965, Jayapal currently resides in Seattle.
