Rep. Pramila Jayapal, U.S. Congresswoman representing Washington’s 7th district since 2017, has made a series of statements on social media addressing actions and policies linked to former President Donald Trump and the Republican Party.

On July 25, 2025, Jayapal commented on legal developments regarding birthright citizenship, stating, “Trump’s illegal order to end birthright citizenship has been BLOCKED AGAIN. It is unconstitutional, period, and we will keep fighting it for as long as we have to.”

Later that day, she addressed concerns about education policy in another post: “Trump and Republicans are trying to dismantle our public education system — from pre-K to graduate school. They are making it unaffordable for working Americans to get a quality education.”

In a subsequent statement the same evening, Jayapal responded to Trump’s remarks on grand jury documents related to the Epstein case: “Trump’s sudden interest in releasing grand jury documents from the Epstein case is BS. It’s just an attempt at distracting you from the real issue: Trump is hiding something and the American people deserve answers.”

Jayapal has represented Washington’s 7th District in Congress since succeeding Jim McDermott in 2017. Prior to her congressional tenure, she served in the Washington State Senate from 2014 to 2016. Born in Chennai in 1965, Jayapal resides in Seattle and holds degrees from Georgetown University (1986) and Northwestern University (1990).
