U.S. Representative Pramila Jayapal, who represents Washington’s 7th district in Congress, has posted a series of statements on social media addressing immigration enforcement, privacy concerns, and health care costs under the Trump administration.
On December 3, 2025, Jayapal wrote: “Trump is kidnapping and disappearing immigrants of all legal statuses into for-profit detention centers, denying them legal access, and subjecting them to awful conditions. 200+ judges have ruled against his actions, and I’m introducing legislation to fix this broken system.”
The following day, she commented on a legal dispute involving personal data in Washington state: “WA state law prohibits the public disclosure of personal information like full names, Social Security numbers, and driver’s license numbers. This lawsuit is yet another power grab from the Trump administration — and a violation of our privacy.” The statement references existing state laws designed to protect individual privacy by restricting the release of sensitive information.
Later that same day on December 4, Jayapal highlighted constituent concerns about rising health care expenses: “These are just a handful of the countless stories I’ve received from my constituents about how their health care costs are skyrocketing, thanks to Trump and Republicans. People across the country are going to get sicker and poorer — all so billionaires can get a tax break.”
Pramila Jayapal has served in Congress since 2017 after replacing Jim McDermott as representative for Washington’s 7th district. She previously held office in the Washington State Senate between 2014 and 2016. Born in Chennai in 1965 and now residing in Seattle at age 57, Jayapal holds degrees from Georgetown University (1986) and Northwestern University (1990).
