U.S. Representative Pramila Jayapal, who serves Washington’s 7th district, has voiced criticism of former President Donald Trump’s actions regarding Iran and called for transparency concerning the release of files related to Jeffrey Epstein.
On March 21, 2026, Jayapal wrote on her official X account: “Trump is trying to distract us from the Epstein files with his illegal war with Iran. But it won’t work and we won’t stop our fight for transparency. The DOJ needs to release ALL the files.”
Later that day, she commented on defense spending: “The Pentagon just requested an additional $200 BILLION to fund Trump’s illegal war in Iran. That’s your taxpayer dollars going to war instead of to education, food assistance, and health care. We need to end this war and focus on issues right here at home.” This post was published on March 21, 2026.
In a subsequent statement posted on March 21, 2026, Jayapal wrote: “Trump’s illegal war in Iran is making life more expensive. It needs to end. Now.”
Pramila Jayapal has represented Washington’s 7th District in Congress since 2017 after previously serving in the Washington State Senate from 2014 to 2016. She succeeded Jim McDermott as the district’s representative. Born in Chennai in 1965 and now residing in Seattle, Jayapal holds degrees from Georgetown University and Northwestern University.
