U.S. Representative Pramila Jayapal, who represents Washington’s 7th district in Congress, posted a series of tweets on March 25, 2026, criticizing former President Donald Trump’s approach to military action in Iran and Republican actions regarding TSA funding.
In her first tweet at 17:28 UTC, Jayapal wrote: “While $200 billion is a ridiculous amount of money that could help with so much in America, the actual number that Trump wants for war doesn’t change the fact that he never got congressional authorization. The reasoning and consequences of this war are the fundamental problems.”
Later that evening at 19:42 UTC, she continued her criticism of the administration’s handling of the conflict: “Trump is dragging us into a senseless, unauthorized war of choice in Iran. And every time his officials come before us in committee, they deflect, ignore, and cover up the truth. The American people deserve to know why we are in this war, and they deserve to know the threat it”.
In a separate post at 21:37 UTC on March 25, Jayapal addressed Republican lawmakers’ stance on Transportation Security Administration (TSA) funding: “Republicans need to stop pretending that they care about TSA as they continue to block funding to pay them. It’s insulting.”
Pramila Jayapal has served as a member of Congress since 2017 after previously serving in the Washington State Senate from 2014 to 2016. She succeeded Jim McDermott as representative for Washington’s 7th district. Born in Chennai (formerly Madras), India in 1965, Jayapal currently resides in Seattle. She holds degrees from Georgetown University and Northwestern University.
