U.S. Representative Pramila Jayapal, who represents Washington’s 7th district in Congress, has used her social media platform to address concerns about federal food assistance and health care policy. In a series of posts on November 10 and 11, Jayapal criticized former President Donald Trump’s approach to food aid programs and expressed frustration with legislative developments affecting health care costs.
On November 10, Jayapal posted: “ICYMI: I hosted a press conference with faith leaders across our community to stand against Trump’s cuts to food assistance. Feeding the hungry is a moral obligation. Yet Trump continues to fight court orders to fully fund SNAP.”
The following day, she commented on broader political dynamics regarding health care policy, stating: “Hope is not a strategy when fighting lawless lying authoritarians—especially when you get fooled over and over and over again and millions of Americans health care is on the line.” Later that evening, she added: “There — I fixed the analysis so it is actually accurate to what happened when 8 Senate Dems caved instead of keeping up the righteous fight to deliver lower health care costs for Americans.”
Pramila Jayapal has represented Washington’s 7th district in Congress since 2017 after succeeding Jim McDermott. She previously served in the Washington State Senate from 2014 to 2016. Born in Chennai in 1965, Jayapal resides in Seattle and holds degrees from Georgetown University and Northwestern University.
