U.S. Representative Pramila Jayapal, who represents Washington’s 7th district in Congress, posted a series of statements on social media addressing former President Donald Trump’s recent State of the Union speech and related issues.

On February 25, 2026, Jayapal commented on Trump’s address by stating: “As expected, Trump’s speech tonight was full of lies about the State of the Union. The truth is that costs are up, unemployment is up, and people are struggling. Attempts to scapegoat immigrants and trans people won’t change those truths.”

Later the same day, she acknowledged her guest at the People’s State of the Union event: “I was proud to have Lauren Hersh, the co-director of World Without Exploitation, as my guest at the People’s State of the Union. As Lauren said, because of the strength of the Epstein survivors, the earth is shaking. We won’t stop demanding justice.”

In another post reflecting on Trump’s remarks, Jayapal stated: “Last night, all Trump did was lie, attack Democrats, and fail to lay out a vision for the future.” (February 25, 2026).

Pramila Jayapal has represented Washington’s 7th District in Congress since 2017 after serving in the Washington State Senate from 2014 to 2016. She succeeded Jim McDermott in this role. Born in Chennai in 1965 and currently residing in Seattle at age 57, Jayapal holds degrees from Georgetown University (1986) and Northwestern University (1990).
