On April 17, 2026, Jayapal wrote: “RECAP: 6 weeks ago, the Strait of Hormuz was open. Today, after Trump’s war of choice that caused 13 US troops dead, thousands of Iranian and Lebanese civilians dead, millions more displaced, $50 billion of US taxpayer dollars wasted, gas prices sky high–the Strait has”.

The following day, she commented on the domestic impact of current policies: “Republicans are dismissing the real economic pain that Americans are feeling. They don’t care that their policies are increasing your prices.” This post reflects her criticism toward Republican leaders over rising costs faced by U.S. households.

Later on April 18, Jayapal added: “We are in a worse situation now than we were six weeks ago when the war started.”
