U.S. Representative Pramila Jayapal, who represents Washington’s 7th district in Congress, addressed a range of legislative and political issues in a series of tweets posted on November 19, 2025.

In her first post of the day, Jayapal referenced ongoing efforts to address congressional stock trading. She wrote: “Americans want us to ban congressional stock trading. Today, thanks to @RepBryanSteil & @RepJoeMorelle, the House is holding a hearing on this. I’m proud to help lead the bipartisan Restore Trust in Congress Act to show Americans that we’re working for them, not our own wallets.” (November 19, 2025).

Later that day, Jayapal commented on immigration policy under former President Donald Trump’s administration. She stated: “Just listen to these headlines about Trump’s illegal and inhumane immigration actions in Chicago. This administration is totally out of control, with zero accountability or respect for the rule of law or humanity.” (November 19, 2025).

In another tweet posted on the same date, Jayapal announced new legislation co-sponsored with Senator Elizabeth Warren. She said: “NEW: @SenWarren and I just introduced our EXPERTS Act — legislation to ensure that bills passed into law actually work for Americans and don’t get warped by corporations working for their own bottom lines. We’re taking the fight to Trump’s corruption.” (November 19, 2025).

Jayapal has served as U.S. Representative for Washington’s 7th District since 2017 after succeeding Jim McDermott and previously held office in the Washington State Senate from 2014 to 2016. Born in Chennai in 1965 and currently residing in Seattle at age 57, she holds degrees from Georgetown University and Northwestern University.
