U.S. Representative Pramila Jayapal, who serves Washington’s 7th district, recently used her social media platform to highlight rising consumer prices and concerns about the U.S. healthcare system.
On August 12, 2025, Jayapal posted that “Chocolate, tomatoes, seafood, and avocados will see their prices rise.” In a separate tweet on the same day, she added that “Coffee, beef, and rice are getting more expensive.”
Later that evening, Jayapal addressed healthcare issues in another post: “80 million Americans are uninsured or underinsured. But the big health insurance corporations raked in more than $71 BILLION in profits last year. The system is broken. We need Medicare for All.”
Pramila Jayapal has represented Washington’s 7th District in Congress since 2017 after serving in the Washington State Senate from 2014 to 2016. She was born in Chennai in 1965 and currently resides in Seattle. Jayapal holds degrees from Georgetown University and Northwestern University.
