U.S. Representative Pramila Jayapal, who represents Washington’s 7th district in Congress, recently commented on new developments affecting immigrant and refugee communities, extended holiday greetings, and addressed ongoing legislative efforts regarding immigration policy.
On April 4, 2026, Jayapal acknowledged local government initiatives: “Mayor Wilson is making critical new investments in legal services for our immigrant and refugee community members.
I helped lead the push for OIRA to be established back in 2012 as head of OneAmerica, and it’s important that it is now being utilized to combat Trump’s mass”.
The following day, she shared a holiday message: “Happy Easter to all who celebrate! Wishing you all a joyous day with your loved ones.” (April 5, 2026).
Later on April 5, Jayapal expressed gratitude toward her colleagues: “Thank you to all the Members of Congress who joined my Kidnapped and Disappeared hearing last week.
As Ranking Member of the Immigration Subcommittee, I’ll continue working to organize Members to stand up to Trump’s lawlessness.”
Pramila Jayapal has served in the U.S. House since replacing Jim McDermott in 2017. She previously held office in the Washington State Senate from 2014 to 2016. Born in Chennai in 1965 and currently residing in Seattle at age 57, Jayapal holds degrees from Georgetown University and Northwestern University.
