U.S. Representative Pramila Jayapal, who represents Washington’s 7th district in Congress, recently posted a series of updates on social media highlighting local infrastructure investments and her criticisms of former President Donald Trump’s administration.

On August 12, 2025, Jayapal shared her visit to the Seattle Public Library’s University Branch, stating: “I toured Seattle Public Library’s (@SPLBuzz) University Branch to see their seismic and accessibility upgrades. In 2024, I secured over $1.3 million in federal funding for this project, and look forward to seeing it completed!” She underscored her role in securing federal support for library improvements aimed at enhancing both safety and accessibility.

Later that evening, Jayapal addressed actions taken during the Trump Administration regarding international aid. She wrote: “Waste, fraud and abuse of the Trump Administration on full display as $9.7 million in contraceptives is set to be burned because of Trump’s shutting down of USAID. A travesty with severe consequences around the world.”

On August 13, she continued her critique of former President Trump’s policies by focusing on tariffs and their economic impact: “Trump promised to lower costs on day one. Instead, his tariffs are raising prices for Americans — and now he’s trying to rig the numbers to pretend that’s not happening. We won’t fall for it.”

Jayapal has represented Washington’s 7th District since 2017 after serving in the Washington State Senate from 2014 to 2016. Born in Chennai in 1965, she resides in Seattle and holds degrees from Georgetown University (1986) and Northwestern University (1990).
