U.S. Representative Pramila Jayapal, who represents Washington’s 7th district in Congress, commented on the attendance of Democrats at former President Donald Trump’s State of the Union address and highlighted her decision to host an Epstein survivor as her guest.
On February 24, 2026, Jayapal posted: “Republicans think it’s “shameful” that some Democrats are not going to Trump’s State of the Union tonight. His lies are what’s actually shameful.”
Later that day, she shared: “I’m honored to host Marijke Chartouni, an Epstein survivor and constituent, as my guest for the State of the Union. We’re joining the Democratic Women’s Caucus to stand up for the truth. Tune in:” The post referenced her participation with other members of the Democratic Women’s Caucus.
In a subsequent message on February 24, Jayapal wrote: “As Trump addresses the nation tonight, the Epstein survivors will be in the room and showing that this movement will not stop until we get truth, transparency, and real accountability.”
Pramila Jayapal has served in Congress since 2017 after replacing Jim McDermott and previously held office in the Washington State Senate from 2014 to 2016. She was born in Chennai (formerly Madras), India in 1965 and currently resides in Seattle. Jayapal is also a graduate of Georgetown University and Northwestern University.
