U.S. Representative Pramila Jayapal, who represents Washington’s 7th district in Congress, has used her social media platform to address concerns over U.S. foreign policy and climate action in early May 2026.
The following evening, she announced her participation in a public forum on environmental policy, posting: “Tonight, I’m joining @actonclimateus for a town hall and panel to chart a path forward for policies that protect our planet and our people. Follow along live:” The event was hosted by Act On Climate US.
On May 6, Jayapal shared reflections on the turnout at this event: “Hundreds of people came out for a Climate Town Hall, hosted by @ActOnClimateUS, to share their thoughts and discuss how we can fight forward to protect our communities and our planet. The climate crisis is here and now, and we won’t stop fighting.”
Pramila Jayapal has represented Washington’s 7th District since replacing Jim McDermott in 2017. Before serving in Congress, she was a member of the Washington State Senate from 2014 to 2016. Born in Chennai (formerly Madras), India in 1965, Jayapal currently resides in Seattle. She holds degrees from Georgetown University (BA) and Northwestern University.
