U.S. Representative Pramila Jayapal, who has represented Washington’s 7th district in Congress since 2017, posted a series of statements on January 21, 2026, addressing concerns about data security, election integrity, and immigration enforcement.
In her first post at 16:21 UTC, Jayapal wrote: “Trump and Elon Musk let DOGE share Social Security information with right-wing groups pushing election-denial conspiracy theories. This is a MASSIVE breach of trust and security. We need more answers and accountability now.”
Later that day at 18:24 UTC, she commented on the ongoing investigation into former President Donald Trump’s actions following the 2020 presidential election: “This week, the American people will hear directly from Jack Smith about his investigation into Trump and how the President tried to overturn the 2020 election. Donald Trump is a danger to our democracy.”
In a third statement at 19:45 UTC, Jayapal addressed immigration enforcement agencies: “ICE is not keeping us safe — they are actively putting us in danger. Listen to Mendota Heights Police Chief Kelly McCarthy break down how DHS and ICE’s actions have impeded local law enforcement and undermined public safety.”
Pramila Jayapal has served as U.S. Representative for Washington’s 7th District since replacing Jim McDermott in 2017. Before her tenure in Congress, she was a member of the Washington State Senate from 2014 to 2016. Born in Chennai in 1965, Jayapal currently resides in Seattle and holds degrees from Georgetown University (1986) and Northwestern University (1990).
