U.S. Representative Pramila Jayapal, who represents Washington’s 7th district in Congress, recently addressed a series of issues through her official social media account, focusing on immigration policy and technology regulation.

On March 28, 2026, Jayapal reiterated her stance regarding federal appropriations for immigration enforcement agencies under former President Trump’s administration. She stated, “I have been clear since the start of the appropriations process: I will not vote to give Trump’s ICE or CBP another cent without major reforms. Tonight, Republicans forced through a bill that will continue the chaos that has left TSA, FEMA, and the Coast Guard unfunded. Read my https://t.co/Fwu2NpWMM5”.

Later that day, she expanded on her views about private detention facilities and family separation at the border. In a post dated March 28, 2026, Jayapal wrote: “We need to outlaw for-profit private immigration jails and hold all those involved in detaining children and separating families accountable. I will continue to hold hearings to expose these horrors. And when we have the gavels back, we will get justice. https://t.co/NLCJ9mdUKe”.

In a separate message posted on March 28, 2026 as well, Jayapal commented on technology industry oversight: “For too long, tech giants have gone unrestricted, putting childrens’ safety and mental health at risk. As the tech industry grows, we need accountability and real guardrails for companies like Meta more than ever. This ruling is a step in the right direction.”

Pramila Jayapal has served as U.S. Representative for Washington’s 7th District since 2017 after succeeding Jim McDermott; she previously held office in the Washington State Senate from 2014 to 2016. Born in Chennai (formerly Madras State) in India in 1965 and currently residing in Seattle at age 57, Jayapal holds degrees from Georgetown University (BA) and Northwestern University.
