U.S. Representative Pramila Jayapal, who represents Washington’s 7th district in Congress, posted a series of tweets on March 23, 2026, advocating for Medicare for All and criticizing Republican spending priorities.
In one post, Jayapal stated, “Republicans want unlimited taxpayer dollars for war, but nothing for your health care. (4/6) https://t.co/ZEF1M05ME0” (March 23, 2026). She continued her argument in another tweet: “We need Medicare for All. (5/6) https://t.co/6JPdbGrtJP” (March 23, 2026). In a subsequent message the same day, she wrote: “Medicare for All would provide comprehensive, quality health care to every American. (6/6) https://t.co/LkpXgWGhC6”.
Jayapal has served in the U.S. Congress since 2017 after replacing Jim McDermott and previously held office in the Washington State Senate from 2014 to 2016. Born in Chennai in 1965 and currently residing in Seattle at age 57, Jayapal is an alumna of Georgetown University and Northwestern University.
