Rep. Pramila Jayapal, U.S. Congresswoman representing Washington’s 7th district since 2017, posted a series of updates on her official Twitter account addressing public safety concerns and community resources in King County during recent flooding events.
On December 11, 2025, Jayapal provided information for residents seeking assistance regarding the ongoing atmospheric river event. She wrote, “KING COUNTY: If you have questions or concerns related to the atmospheric river, call the Flood Warning Center at 206-296-8200 or 1-800-945-9263 to ask questions about current flood conditions. And to stay up to date on emergency updates, visit: https://t.co/0uD3QFhgG4”.
Continuing her efforts to inform constituents about available support measures, Jayapal posted later that evening on December 12, “SEATTLE & VASHON ISLAND: King County is providing free sandbags for pickup to reduce damages from flooding. Stay safe, we’re in this together. https://t.co/02VrnsqQ1U”.
In addition to updates on local emergencies, Jayapal issued a statement regarding an individual release case. On December 12 she shared, “My full statement on the long-overdue release of Kilmar Abrego Garcia https://t.co/DAi9CU9ulB”.
Jayapal has represented Washington’s 7th District in Congress since replacing Jim McDermott in 2017 and previously served in the Washington State Senate from 2014 to 2016. Born in Chennai in 1965 and currently residing in Seattle, she holds degrees from Georgetown University and Northwestern University.
