Rep. Pramila Jayapal, who represents Washington’s 7th district in the U.S. Congress, has recently posted a series of statements on social media addressing key national and international issues.
On April 14, 2026, Jayapal called for congressional action regarding U.S. military engagement with Iran. She stated, “Congress needs to vote on a War Powers Resolution this week to stop Trump’s illegal war with Iran. Lives are at risk and costs are spiking. It needs to end now.”
The following day, April 15, she recognized the achievements of Lauren and Rachel, co-founders of World Without Exploitation, after their inclusion in Time’s list of the 100 Most Influential People of 2026. Jayapal wrote: “I’m so proud to honor Lauren and Rachel, the co-founders of World Without Exploitation, on Time’s 100 Most Influential People of 2026 list! They have lifted the voices of survivors, built a real sisterhood of support, and fought to release the Epstein files. This is such a well”
Later that same day, Jayapal criticized former President Trump’s immigration policies: “Trump and his administration campaigned on going after the “worst of the worst” undocumented immigrants. Instead, they are implementing their real agenda: Stopping ALL legal immigration, period.”
Pramila Jayapal has served as a member of Congress since replacing Jim McDermott in 2017 and previously held office in the Washington State Senate from 2014 to 2016. Born in Chennai in 1965 and currently residing in Seattle, Jayapal holds degrees from Georgetown University and Northwestern University.
