U.S. Representative Pramila Jayapal, who represents Washington’s 7th district in Congress, posted a series of statements on social media on February 2 and 3, 2026, addressing government spending bills, the release of investigative files related to Donald Trump and Jeffrey Epstein, and calls for greater accountability within federal immigration enforcement agencies.
On February 2, Jayapal wrote: “You got $75 billion in the Big Bad Betrayal bill. You’ve got funding ‘available’ right now. And…release the Pretti body cam footage NOW.”
The following day, she commented on recently released documents involving Jeffrey Epstein: “There are over 5,300 files with references to Donald Trump in the last batch of Epstein Files. And this is only about half of the files the DOJ has. Release ALL the files.”
Later that same day, Jayapal addressed concerns regarding law enforcement oversight and transparency: “Kristi Noem sending ICE agents in MN body cameras is simply not enough. We also need major reforms — including access to body cam footage, no masks, independent investigations, and real accountability for ICE and CBP’s lawlessness.”
Pramila Jayapal has served as a member of Congress since 2017 after succeeding Jim McDermott. She previously held office in the Washington State Senate from 2014 to 2016. Born in Chennai (formerly Madras), India in 1965, Jayapal currently resides in Seattle. Her educational background includes degrees from Georgetown University (1986) and Northwestern University (1990).
