U.S. Representative Pramila Jayapal, who represents Washington’s 7th district in Congress, posted a series of statements on December 11, 2025, addressing key legislative and international issues.
In her first post of the day, Jayapal criticized a Republican-backed permitting reform bill. She wrote on December 11: “Republicans are pushing through a permitting reform bill that guts the Clean Water Act. I’m voting NO and will keep fighting for real fixes that actually promote energy affordability without tainting the water we drink.”
Later that day, Jayapal announced new legislation aimed at supporting gig economy workers. On December 11 she stated: “LIVE: I’m standing with colleagues and advocates to introduce my Empowering App-Based Workers Act — legislation to ensure rideshare drivers and food delivery workers are paid their fair share and know how their data is being used. Tune in:”
In another post on December 11, Jayapal addressed the humanitarian situation in Gaza following severe weather events. She said: “The Israeli government’s destruction of Gaza and their blocking of aid into the territory have only made the impacts of this severe storm worse. The United States must use our leverage to immediately get humanitarian aid into Gaza to save lives.”
Jayapal has served as U.S. Representative for Washington’s 7th District since 2017 after succeeding Jim McDermott, following prior service in the Washington State Senate from 2014 to 2016. Born in Chennai in 1965, she currently resides in Seattle and holds degrees from Georgetown University and Northwestern University.
