U.S. Representative Pramila Jayapal, who represents Washington’s 7th district in Congress, recently shared a series of statements on social media addressing her positions on legislative matters and ongoing national debates.
On September 19, 2025, Jayapal announced her opposition to a Republican-backed continuing resolution. In her post, she stated: “This morning, I voted NO on Republicans’ partisan continuing resolution. I will not give my vote to legislation that does not restore the health care and food assistance that Trump and Republicans ripped away from millions of Americans in their Big Bad Betrayal. In another post from September 19, Jayapal commented on former President Donald Trump’s immigration policies: “Trump is destroying all legal pathways for immigration in this country. Jayapal has served as the U.S. Representative for Washington’s 7th District since 2017 after succeeding Jim McDermott and previously served in the Washington State Senate from 2014 to 2016. She was born in Chennai in 1965 and currently resides in Seattle. Her academic background includes degrees from Georgetown University and Northwestern University.
