Reece Carter was named the Big Ten Women’s Tennis Player of the Week, according to an announcement from the conference office on April 1.

The recognition comes after Carter helped the Washington Huskies improve their record to 15-1 overall and 6-1 in Big Ten matches with four individual victories. Her singles performances were crucial, as she clinched both matches for her team during sweeps over No. 60 Northwestern and No. 52 Illinois. Against Northwestern’s Feldman, Carter won in straight sets, 6-4, 6-2, and followed up with a decisive win against Illinois’ player at 6-1, 6-0. She is currently ranked No. 70 in the ITA singles rankings and holds a perfect season record of 14-0.

Carter also found success in doubles play alongside partner Jermine Sherif at the No. 3 spot. The pair secured two wins over the weekend: first clinching the doubles point with a score of 6-3 against Northwestern’s Loureiro/Raath and then winning decisively at 6-0 over Illinois’ Cooper/Madatali. The duo now holds a combined record of nine wins and one loss this season.

Looking ahead, No. 21 Washington is scheduled to return to action this weekend in Southern California with upcoming matches against No.12 USC on April 3 and No.18 UCLA on April 5.
