Rep. Pramila Jayapal, a U.S. Congresswoman representing Washington’s 7th district since 2017, posted several statements on July 28, 2025, addressing issues of homelessness, reproductive health care, and humanitarian aid.

In her first post at 15:18 UTC, Jayapal wrote: “Homelessness and poverty are not personal failures. They are policy failures. We need to invest in affordable housing so that every American can have the tools they need to succeed.”

Later that day at 16:08 UTC, she commented on a recent judicial decision regarding Planned Parenthood: “BREAKING: A federal judge has blocked Trump and Republicans’ attempts to defund Planned Parenthood through their Big Bad Betrayal. This is a big win. We’ll keep fighting to ensure millions of Americans have access to the health care they need and deserve.”

At 18:10 UTC, Jayapal addressed the humanitarian crisis in Gaza by stating: “‘Minimal’ amounts of aid will not save thousands from starvation and death. The Israeli government must provide a real, long-term solution to get meaningful food and resources into Gaza.”

Pramila Jayapal has served as a member of Congress since replacing Jim McDermott in 2017. Before her tenure in Congress, she was part of the Washington State Senate from 2014 to 2016. Born in Chennai in 1965 and now residing in Seattle, Jayapal holds degrees from Georgetown University (BA) and Northwestern University.
