The Seattle Storm announced on Apr. 12 that guard Jade Melbourne has signed with the team. Terms of the deal were not disclosed, in line with team policy.

Melbourne’s return is notable as she brings experience from both international play and her previous seasons in the Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA). Her addition to the roster is expected to strengthen the team’s lineup for the upcoming season.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Jade back to Seattle. She’s a young, dynamic playmaker with a high basketball IQ who can impact the game in multiple ways,” said Storm General Manager Talisa Rhea. “Jade’s growth and experience in international competition continue to elevate her game, and we’re excited for the energy she’ll bring to our team this season.”

Melbourne spent her last two WNBA seasons with the Washington Mystics, where she achieved career highs including an average of 23.4 minutes per game, 5.9 points, and 2.9 assists during the 2025 season. In 2024, she reached a personal best three-point shooting percentage at 35.7% and averaged 5.4 points per game while shooting 43.4% from the field.

Drafted by Seattle in 2022 and first signing with them in 2023, Melbourne averaged 2.6 points and 1.2 assists per game during her initial season with the Storm.

Beyond her WNBA career, Melbourne has played six seasons for UC Capitals in Australia’s Women’s National Basketball League (WNBL), most recently averaging over eleven points per game along with nearly five rebounds and six assists each outing.

Internationally, Melbourne serves as starting point guard for Australia’s national team—the Opals—and made history at the Paris Olympics by becoming their first player ever to record more than fifteen points and five assists in a bronze medal match. She was named FIBA’s Rising Star of Paris Olympics for her performance.
